Leopard Man
I've always thought that I more or less specialise in fictional anthropology, and this series of shrines embody this. This isn't a very fearsome leopard, and his nails are fine bamboo. But when I first went to meet my family in Jamaica, I found a fierce not very well-made nkonde figure and bought it. It has two faces and a double spear, facing in both directions. I had first fallen in love with these figures in London when I saw the huge one in the Museum of Mankind - and here was one who came from Africa, then to Jamaica and thence to Australia. He protects my studio.
